“Thank you so much for accommodating us in August. We had a very relaxing stay. The property is breathtaking. Very clean, beautiful and convenient location. Our friends loved it as well. Already talking about a returned trip there in the future. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely getaway in Trinity Bight.”

“We stayed at CK for four days in the mid fall of 2013. We’ve been vacationing in Trinity Bight for the past ten years, on a regular basis, and have rented a half dozen other properties in the area, numerous times, over the years. Commander’s Keep tops them all. Pure bliss!

“A Great Place To Stay”
Reviewed 25 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013 by Bernd M (Deutschland)
Some people say things always look better on photos… in this case reality is just as beautiful.
When we arrived at the house we found that the pictures we based our booking decision on, had not promised too much.
A double-sided fire place divides a cosy living room and a spacious kitchen (equipped with anything you need) and dining area.
The interiour decoration shows great attention to detail and each window offers a nice and sometimes spectacular view – either towards the bay and lighthouse or towards the town.
The water-front patio/deck invited many times to sit down and enjoy a gorgeous scenic view with a cup of coffie or glass of wine. We even got to watch a whale finding his way into the bay.
Not only the kitchen but the entire house is equipped with everything you need and mosquito screens at the windows keep away unwelcome visitors.
We, though, always felt welcome and it was comforting to have a helpful and supporting contact person (the manager of the house) in town.

“We had a fantastic week at Commander’s Keep. What a lovely, lovely home and location. Catherine has thought of everything to make you feel at home and comfortable – absolutely everything. She even left us a “happy anniversary” card. The views are BREATHTAKING! LOVED the kitchen. Loved the deck. Loved everything. The only thing that would have made it absolutely perfect would have been a whale sighting (but I was there off season) … will have to go back in the summer!
5/5 Excellent! by Brendan P. 15 Aug 2022 (VRBO)

Great adaptation of a traditional saltbox experience with a million dollar view.

Absolutely beautiful !
This house was absolutely amazing! The property manager , owners and others were beyond communicative and amazing. The lot is stunning and perfectly nestled in a meadow overlooking the sea harbor where you can no doubt see whales! House has everything you need and more including welcome chocolates from the villages local chocolate and coffee store. The location is superb as you can walk anywhere. I would recommend 10/10

Best house, property, location and VIEW on the island. Here’s why!
Simply put. Commander’s Keep is…heaven. Have stayed at CK many times and I cannot recommend the property or location more. The House – Traditional, Cozy, Elegant (clean!). Has absolutely everything you need and more. Location – easy to get to from both Gander and St. John’s. It’s a place you can stay for a few days or 10 days…even weeks. So much to do in the area. The View – not sure there is a better view on the entire island. The Skerwink Trail, The Bay, Icebergs, Whales, Sea otters, The lighthouse (the sound of the lighthouse, late at night as the fog rolls in…eerily relaxing) the Church (and waking up Sunday morning to the sounds of its glorious bells!) Trinity – Rising Tide Theatre – won’t find better community theatre anywhere. 5 stars. Be sure to take in the Trinity Pageant, Dinner Theatre and at least one play. The Restaurants! – Fisher’s Loft, The Twine Loft, Bonavista Social Club and so many more! If it’s a clear day, try to reserve at Fishers Loft (late seating) so you can witness the spectacular sunset. Bonavista Social Club – worth the drive for the sunset alone – BYOB. They do not take reservations. Overall, the town has an abundance of things to do – great shops, restaurants, theatre, hiking trails, iceberg/whale watching tours – you’ll find something new every day and it’s all literally steps from Commander’s Keep! Lastly, the owners and the property managers – You will not find nicer, kinder, sweeter people! They go above and beyond to ensure your stay is perfect! Going to Commanders Keep is like coming home. As soon as you arrive, you’ll walk out onto the incredible deck that floats above the cliff…you’ll look out…and exhale. Heaven.
